ES Windows Windows & Doors: The Tampa Owner’s Guide
If you’ve got an ES Windows product with a failed or failing part, we stock and install ES Windows-compatible windows and doors across Tampa, with most replacement jobs running $450 to $1,800 per opening depending on the part and the work involved. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a window that won’t stay up, a door that drags on the sill, or a seal that’s turned cloudy and won’t clear. Here’s what you need to know to get it matched, priced, and fixed without guesswork.
We’re an independent Tampa service provider, not affiliated with ES Windows. That matters because it means we’ll tell you straight when an OEM part is worth the wait and when a quality aftermarket equivalent will do the same job for less. We write it down before we start so nobody is guessing mid-project.
Which ES Windows Models This Applies To

ES Windows parts aren’t universal, and that’s the first thing to get right. The two series we see most in Tampa homes are the ES Impact line built for coastal wind codes and the standard ES residential single-hung and casement units. The part you need depends on which one you have.
The fastest way to identify your unit is to check the label on the interior frame edge: ES Windows etches a model code into the glass corner or prints it on a sticker along the top track. If the sticker’s faded (common in our humidity), measure the visible glass width and height to the nearest sixteenth of an inch, then check the balance shoe or hinge stamp. That stamp tells us the series and load rating, which is what actually matters for ordering.
One compatibility gotcha worth knowing: ES Impact and standard ES units share exterior trim profiles but not internal hardware. A balance shoe from an Impact window won’t fit a standard unit even if both are 36 inches wide. Aftermarket vendors sometimes list parts as “ES-compatible” without flagging that. We stock both OEM and tested aftermarket parts for the residential series, and we’ll tell you the difference before you pay for either.
We also keep parts on hand for KraftMaid cabinet hardware, Cambria and Silestone surface touch-ups, and common door rebuilding components, so if you’ve got more than one thing needing attention, one call covers it.

Signs Your ES Windows Windows & Doors Is Failing
- The sash drops when you let go. That’s a balance shoe or spring that’s lost tension or snapped. It happens faster in Tampa because salt air and humidity work on the coil springs inside the shoe long before anything looks wrong from the outside.
- The door drags or won’t latch. More often than not, that’s hinge sag or a swollen weather strip from wet-season humidity, not a frame problem. Adjusting or replacing the hinge is a quick fix; ignoring it turns a small fix into a threshold replacement.
- Condensation between the glass panes. That’s a failed IG (insulated glass) seal. Once the desiccant inside the spacer is saturated, the fog won’t clear. The glass unit gets replaced, not the whole window, unless the frame itself is compromised.
- The crank turns but the sash doesn’t move. In casement units, that’s a stripped operator gear or worn gearbox. ES casement operators are particular about mount hole spacing, so matching the old part exactly matters more than “close enough.”
- You hear a rattle when the wind picks up. In Tampa’s afternoon storms, a loose balance or worn weather seal announces itself fast. Left alone, that movement wears the track and turns a $40 part into a $400 track replacement.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For ES Windows parts in Tampa, here’s what you’re looking at, installed:
- Balance shoe or spring replacement: $95 – $250 per window
- Casement operator or hinge replacement: $150 – $400 per window
- IG glass unit replacement: $350 – $850 per sash
- Door hinge, threshold, or weather strip replacement: $120 – $450 per door

The range comes down to series, size, and whether the frame needs work beyond the part itself. What’s included on every job: the written price before we start, the part, the labor, haul-away of the old hardware, and our workmanship warranty. If it’s not done right, our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers it, and we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
Some things are safe to check yourself: a visible screw that’s backed out on a hinge, debris in a track, or a latch plate that’s shifted. Those take ten minutes and a screwdriver.
Anything involving a balance shoe, spring tension, or an operator gear is a different story. These are loaded springs under real tension; one wrong move while removing a shoe can send a sash and a hand into a bad afternoon. That’s where a trained technician earns the call. If the part’s already out and you just need it matched and installed, call (850) 779-4017; we’ll identify it by the stamp and have the right replacement ordered before the week is out.
FAQs

Expect 8 to 12 years from seals and moving hardware in coastal Florida humidity, less if the windows get full afternoon sun or are within a few miles of salt water. Impact-rated frames last 20 years or more, but the moving parts inside them wear faster than the frame itself.
Some can; a sticking latch or a loose hinge is repairable. A snapped balance spring or a fogged IG unit is not. We’ll tell you which one you have before any work starts. Call (850) 779-4017 for an exact quote, and estimates are free.
Most balance and hardware replacements are 30 – 60 minutes per window once the part’s in hand. IG glass units usually take 1 – 2 weeks to fabricate, and the install itself is under an hour. Door thresholds and weather strips are same-visit fixes.
We keep common balance shoes, operators, hinges, and weather stripping for the standard ES residential series in our Tampa service vehicles. Series-specific or quick-ship OEM parts are ordered same day and typically arrive within 3 to 5 business days.
