KraftMaid Home Additions & ADU: The Tampa Owner’s Guide

If you have a KraftMaid cabinet, drawer component, or hardware piece that has failed inside a Tampa home addition or ADU, we stock and install KraftMaid-compatible replacements. Installed pricing for a full home addition with KraftMaid cabinets in Tampa runs $45,000 – $130,000, while a standalone ADU with KraftMaid finishes typically lands between $90,000 and $220,000. The failure you’re seeing usually shows up in two ways: a drawer face that no longer sits flush against the frame, or a hinge that has lost its resistance and lets the door droop. Both are repairable without tearing out the surrounding structure, and we carry common KraftMaid hardware and components on our trucks for exactly these calls.

Which KraftMaid Models This Applies To

KraftMaid builds across several cabinet lines, and the parts are not universally interchangeable. The Vantage, Benton, and Lexington series each use different door profiles, hinge plates, and drawer-box depths. The quickest identifier is the printed label inside the drawer box or on the cabinet’s back panel: it lists the series, the finish code, and the manufacturing date. If that label is gone, measure the hinge plate recess in the door; KraftMaid overlay doors for the Vantage line sit at a 1/2-inch cup diameter, while some Lexington models use a 35mm European-style hinge cup. We match the original OEM part wherever it’s still available from KraftMaid, and where it isn’t, we use a quality aftermarket equivalent sized to the exact cup depth and screw pattern. A note for newer KraftMaid owners: the soft-close damper clips from a 2018-or-later cabinet will not seat correctly on pre-2014 hinge bases, even though both look identical at a glance.

Signs Your KraftMaid Home Additions & ADU Is Failing

  • Door droop when open: The hinge plate has worn or the screws have stripped from the cabinet face. You’ll see the door sit lower on one side and hear it scrape the frame. This is almost always a hinge replacement, not a door replacement.
  • Drawer won’t glide smoothly: The soft-close rail has lost its damping fluid or the ball-bearing cage snapped. Drawers that stick roughly halfway out need a new rail, and continuing to pull on it just bends the rail runner.
  • Faceframe cracks near the hinge screws: Tampa’s humidity swings expand and contract the faceframe wood. Older homes in Seminole Heights and Palma Ceia see this most often because the interior framing moves with the seasons.
  • Soft-close no longer soft: The small piston clip on the hinge or drawer slide has blown out. You’ll hear the door click shut instead of easing. The clip alone is replaceable in about ten minutes.
  • Pole wrap or filler strip coming loose: The adhesive or pin nail has failed on a finished end panel. In ADU kitchenettes, this shows up as a visible seam opening near the countertop line.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For targeted KraftMaid parts within an existing Tampa home addition or ADU, the job usually lands between $150 and $600 installed, depending on whether we’re swapping a pair of hinges, a drawer slide set, or a full drawer box. A larger rework, such as replacing all soft-close hardware in a kitchen that came with an ADU addition, runs $900 – $2,800. The full home addition or ADU construction range of $45,000 – $130,000 and $90,000 – $220,000 includes KraftMaid cabinetry, counters, flooring, electrical, plumbing, drywall, and finish work. Every parts job receives a written price before we order the part or open a tool bag. We write it down before we start so nobody is guessing mid-project. The part itself carries the manufacturer’s warranty; our labor is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise, so if the replacement hinge or slide fails within the first year, we come back and make it right without another invoice.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect the label inside the drawer box, note the series name, and take a photo of the damaged hinge or slide. That helps us bring the right part on the first trip. What we’d caution against is drilling new screw holes into a faceframe to “fix” a stripped hinge: KraftMaid faceframes are engineered for specific screw locations, and a new hole too close to the old one will splinter the wood and turn a $60 hinge call into a $400 faceframe repair. Similarly, forcing a drawer past a blown soft-close clip bends the rail runner and can tear the drawer-bottom groove. If the drawer box itself is cracked through, no aftermarket rail will fix it; the box needs to be rebuilt to the original KraftMaid depth and dovetail pattern. Call (850) 779-4017 and we’ll match the part to your model, give you a written number, and schedule around your family’s routine.
